Before You Arrive
What to Bring With you:
- A list of home medications.
- Slippers and robe, pajamas or night gown (a hospital gown is provided).
- Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shaving articles.
- A minimum of cosmetics and additional toiletries.
- If your hospitalization does not require total bed confinement, you may bring comfortable daytime clothing and footwear.
- As in other public facilities, your personal items cannot be the responsibility of the Medical Center. We strongly urge that money and valuables be left at home or with members of your family.
- When not in use, dentures, hearing aids, and eyeglasses should be placed in protective containers. The Medical Center cannot be responsible for breakage or loss of such articles.
When You Arrive
- An identification band will be placed on your wrist during the admission process that identifies you by name, birth date and by patient number. Please do not remove this band until you are discharged from the hospital.
- After being escorted to your room, a member of the nursing staff will greet you, acquaint you with your surroundings, and instruct you on the use of equipment including the nurse call system.
- Nursing personnel will check your vital signs and will assist you in getting settled in your room. The nurse will also conduct a short interview at this time, and any testing ordered by your physician will be initiated.

Visitor Information
Saint Anthony reserves the right to alter or limit visiting hours based upon medical and/or nursing judgment.
Regular Nursing Units (1) 12:00 noon - 8:30 p.m. (2) Two visitors at a time. (3) Children 12 or older permitted.
Family Center Maternity (1) Fathers - 24 hours. (2) Grandparents and siblings - 11:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. (3) Relatives and friends - 12 or older -- 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; limit of 5 visitors per patient. (4) One primary and 2 additional support people with labor patients.
Pediatric Unit (1) Two visitors at a time. (2) Parents - 24 hours (only one parent may spend the night). (3) Grandparents, siblings, 12:00 noon - 8:30 p.m. (4) Others 12 or older, 12:00 noon – 8:30 p.m.
Intensive Care Units (1) Open visitation for two members of family anytime with the exception of report time. (2) Children 12 or older permitted.
Rehabilitation Unit (1) Family - Monday through Saturday, 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, 10:00 am – 8:30 p.m. (unless training session set up with case manager) (2) Friends - Two at a time, same hours.
Preceding surgery, immediate family members may visit regardless of hours, but should remain in the lobby or waiting room during surgery.
Visiting Policies
- Smoking: To provide the most healthful possible environment for our patients, visitors and staff, Saint Anthony Medical Center has initiated a “no smoking” policy throughout the Medical Center’s facilities and grounds. The dangers of tobacco smoke are well documented, and we believe it is our responsibility to actively discourage practices that are detrimental to good health.
- Food: Food cannot be brought to a patient without the approval of the patient’s physician and nursing staff.
- Alcoholic Beverages: Visitors are not allowed to bring alcoholic beverages into the Medical Center.
- Dress: Visitors are requested to dress appropriately. For reasons of health and courtesy, individual attire should include a shirt or blouse, trousers, skirt or shorts and shoes.
