Our Sports Medicine Institute (SMI) boasts an established reputation for providing quality healthcare for physically active people. Our goal is to help athletes maximize their performance, treat injuries and help prevent new injuries from occurring.
Keith Pitchford, M.D. is medical director at SMI. As an orthopedic surgeon and Sports Medicine Fellow, he has a successful track record in treating injuries and providing evaluations with physiological and biomechanical assessments.

Specialized Athletic Development Program
SMI understands that “one size” does not fit all. As such, our athletic development
specialists base each athlete’s training program on his/her sport-specific requirements.
We work with you to achieve your peak performance.
Athletes undergo two phases of training – introductory and specialized. Training
includes:
Frank Eksten, an experienced athletic coach of junior high to collegiate level students, as well as professional athletes to the Olympics, heads this division of SMI.

Perhaps your family doctor is unavailable or you don’t have a primary-care physician. If you’re not facing a life-threatening emergency and need to see a medical professional, visit our Franciscan EXPRESSCare – open 9 am to 7 pm, Monday through Saturday. No appointment is necessary.
Franciscan EXPRESSCare provides non-emergency medical care for the treatment of minor injuries and illnesses. Our physicians and urgent care staff can quickly treat patients of all ages suffering from a variety of ailments including fevers, sprains and strains, sore throats and earaches, mild asthma attacks, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, wound repair, rashes, minor allergic reactions, flu-like symptoms, colds, respiratory infections and more.
