Volunteer Opportunities

The Saint Anthony Auxiliary consists of more than 250 volunteers whose invaluable services include transporting patients, mail and flower deliveries, information desk assistance, floor hosts, assisting pastoral care, clerical help and much more.

If you would like to grow through service to others, learn new skills, develop new interests, make new friends and enjoy the rare satisfaction of helping others, then call now! We'd love to welcome you. Call 219.757.6347 for more information or to volunteer.

Who are the volunteers?

Men, women and teenagers who come from all walks of life, but share a common desire to help others. At Saint Anthony Medical Center, we have volunteers who are retirees, former patients, homemakers, husband and wife teams, professionals and students.

When do volunteers work?

Volunteers usually work once or twice a week for three to four hours at a time. Volunteers are needed seven days a week during the morning, afternoon and evening hours.

How will I know what to do?

All new volunteers go through an orientation and education day to familiarize them with the Medical Center and the operations of the Auxiliary Services Department. In addition, when volunteers first assume their responsibilities, they work with other volunteers in the same position until they feel comfortable.

What’s in it for me?

As a volunteer of the medical center, you will:

  • grow through service to others
  • learn new skills
  • develop new interests
  • grow in understanding
  • make new friends
  • enjoy that rare satisfaction that comes from helping others
